Presenting the Zurich Invitational

Presenting the Zurich Invitational

Information

ESB, together with GameTurnier, eStudios and g4g.ch are proud to present the Zurich Invitational! We truly believe that with the right tools in place and with the right investment, Battlefield Esports can have a significant place in the competitive gaming market. Together with our partners, we believe this event is the first step into making our vision a reality.

What is the Zurich Invitational?

The Zurich Invitational is our first event of the 2019/2020 season, a 4 team, double-elimination, 5v5 Domination, invite-only Battlefield 1 LAN event on PlayStation 4.

The winning team will be taking home 1000 € and the Zurich Invitational Trophy, with everyone receiving some small prizes and goodies regardless.

While we did want to host this event on Battlefield V, the Private Games feature still hasn’t been released. This means that the event will take place on Battlefield 1 for now, with Battlefield V a possibility depending on when Private Games release, and whether we have news in the next few weeks or not.

When and where does it take place?

The event will take place from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm (CEST) on Saturday, October 12th, 2019 at eStudios in Zurich, Switzerland.

Will there be a live-stream?

No, there won’t be a live-stream, there will be two!

The magnificent eSLC duo will be covering the event in German directly from Zurich on the GameTurnier Twitch (twitch.tv/gameturniertv), while the legendary BrettFX and a surprise guest will be covering the event in English on the ESB Twitch (twitch.tv/esbinternationaltv).

Make sure to tune into this epic event!

How can teams participate?

In order to participate, teams will have to read and understand the “Eligibility Check-List” detailed below and make sure their team meets the event requirements. Once they understand the requirements, teams will be able to sign-up to participate in the event by providing all the requested information via the form in the “Sign-up” tab of this article.

Teams that have regularly competed in our events in the past will be prioritized during the invite process.

Teams will have to pay a 250 € Team Ticket (50 € per player) and for their own travel to Zurich on the required dates. Two-night accommodation (Hotel) for teams (5 players per team) will be provided by ESB (Friday & Saturday night).

F.A.Q

  • My team or one of my players live outside of Europe, can we not compete?
    • While we will be prioritizing European based teams for practical reasons, we will be reviewing these situations on a case by case basis due to possible travel visas required. Please contact “CodeName_Deus#0296” via private message on Discord for further information.
  • What about PC and Xbox?

ESB League – BFV Pre-Season

ESB League – BFV Pre-Season

Information

Season 1 is expected to launch this fall (spoiler alert), and yet private servers are currently nowhere to be found. However, plenty of teams have started playing again since Squad Conquest has been added back to the game indefinitely, which prompts us to deliver a proper event for teams to compete in despite the current situation.

We are therefore opening up our Battlefield V league pre-season! The pre-season will work exactly like a normal season of ESB League, with a few small differences. Firstly, there are no qualifiers, meaning each division will be equal and generated based on a variety of factors. Secondly, teams will be earning ESB Points based on how they do in the pre-season, which will have an impact of qualifiers for Season 1. This means playing now will help you qualify for Season 1, and trust us, you will want to qualify for Season 1!

Our pre-season will be open to all platforms and for teams from Europe, North America, and South America. While we are aware not every platform/region combination will have enough teams, we are giving everyone an equal opportunity to participate and hopefully have their very own league.

Visit the “Schedule” tab to find out more and “Sign-up” to well, sign-up.

Regions:

For our Battlefield V pre-season, we will be featuring the following leagues on PS4, PC and X1.
  • Battlefield V – 8v8 Squad Conquest – PS4 EU & NA
  • Battlefield V – 8v8 Squad Conquest – PC EU & NA
  • Battlefield V – 8v8 Squad Conquest – X1 EU & NA
  • Battlefield V – 8v8 Squad Conquest – PS4 SA
  • Battlefield V – 8v8 Squad Conquest – PC SA

Note: Each league will require at least 8 teams to be confirmed. Multiple Divisions will be created if needed.

There will also be an ESB Council on Sunday, May 12th, prior to the league starting to finalize our current 8v8 Squad Conquest Ruleset. Only confirmed teams will be invited to participate.

BFV Squad Conquest – More Test Cups on all platforms!

BFV Squad Conquest – More Test Cups on all platforms!

Information

Squad Conquest was going to be removed from Battlefield V on Thursday January 31st, until it wasn’t. DICE and EA saw the amount of support coming in from the community for the game mode, and gave us two extra weeks to play it. They listened, and so did we. Our first Squad Conquest Test Cup on PlayStation 4 was a great success, bringing in meaningful numbers that clearly showed everyone that the Battlefield esports community is still here and won’t give up. We are now proud to announce our second PlayStation 4 Test Cup and our first ones on both PC and Xbox One!

The Test Cups will take place over 2 days, starting on Saturday, February 9th and finishing on Sunday, February 10th (visit the schedule tab for more detailed information). Each team will play a total of 4 games over the weekend in a swiss style bracket. This will allow every team participating to continue testing the game mode and form their own opinions on what they believe works and what doesn’t.

This past Sunday, we hosted our first Battlefield V ESB Council where team leaders came together to discuss and vote on the first version of our 8v8 ruleset. The complete ruleset can be found here and will be used for the entire PS4 Cup. However, on both Xbox One and PC, we want to give teams the chance to go through the same process as teams did on PS4.

Therefore with the Cup split over 2 days, PC and Xbox One teams will get a chance to experience the Squad Conquest in 2 different ways. On the Saturday, teams will be allowed to use anything that’s in the game, therefore no rules! This will allow both the veteran teams to prove any point they wish to make (about weapons/gadgets that may be overpowered) and new teams to both understand these points and experience the game as it is. On the Sunday, we will be using the newly made BFV 8v8 Ruleset in order to make the game more competitive while providing a different experience to all teams participating. We hope that this leads to plenty of feedback and talking points for the next ESB Council.

Xbox One and PC Teams that take part in this Cup will be invited to participate in our second Battlefield V ESB Council to both provide feedback on the game-mode and discuss the current Squad Conquest ESB Ruleset that has been created, and any changes they feel should be made to it.

Our casters will also be live-casting as many games as they can on our Twitch Channel (https://www.twitch.tv/esbinternationaltv), and therefore look forward to bringing you some more competitive Squad Conquest this upcoming weekend. The full stream schedule will be published on our social media as we get closer to the weekend.

We hope to see you all either competing or watching!

If you wish to know more about the game mode, visit:
https://www.ea.com/games/battlefield/battlefield-5/news/squad-conquest

Schedule

Note #1: Each Cup has a Swiss Style Bracket, meaning each team will have 4 matches to play regardless of how many they Win/Lose.
Note #2: The Test Cup will be hosted on Battlefy, however the tournament page won’t be visible until sign-ups open.

  • Sign-ups OPEN on Tuesday, February 5th at 1:00am ET / 07:00am CET
  • Sign-ups CLOSE on Saturday, February 9th at 6:00am ET / 12:00pm CET
  • Matches 1-2 on Saturday, February 9th starting at 1:30pm ET / 7:30pm CET
  • Matches 3-4 on Sunday, February 10th starting at 1:30pm ET / 7:30pm CET
  • ESB Council #1 for Xbox and PC teams on Sunday, February 18th starting at 3:00pm ET / 9:0pm CET

ESB BFV Council #1 – 8v8 Squad Conquest Ruleset

ESB BFV Council #1 – 8v8 Squad Conquest Ruleset

General Information

Despite neither Rental Servers or Custom matches being available, we managed to get 30+ teams playing this past weekend in our Squad Conquest test cups on PlayStation 4. It was a great community effort and the events ran smoothly considering the circumstances.

The main test cup was split over two days. It featured no rules on Day 1 and some community suggested restrictions on Day 2. This was designed to test the various aspects of the game, and allow teams to create their own opinion on what does and doesn’t work in a competitive environment. The majority of teams played a total of 4 matches, allowing them to gain the required experience to provide meaningful feedback in this ESB Council.

In this ESB Council we will be officially discussing and voting on any weapon/grenade/gadget bans and any map restrictions that need to be put in place for the 8v8 scene. Once the voting will be over, we will be constructing a first version of our official 8v8 Squad Conquest Ruleset which will be used in our events starting next week.

When is the Council?

The meeting will be held on Sunday, February 3rd at 3pm EST / 9pm CET, and will last approximately 2 hours. Below is a countdown leading to the meeting start.

How does my team attend?

This ESB Council is open to any team who played at least 2 matches in either our PS4 8v8 Squad Conquest Test Cup or South American Invitational which took place this past weekend. Each team will be allowed to send one representative to the Council, meaning 30 teams should be eligible to attend.

Established event organizers are also welcome to attend and join the conversation. Please contact @CodeName_Deus via twitter if you are interested in taking part.

The Council will take place on Discord (Download Link Here). You may join the server directly by clicking HERE.

Teams that wish to attend, please have your representative contact either CodeName_Deus (CodeName_Deus#0296) or Prince (LW__Prince#8658) directly in the ESB Discord to gain the “BFV Testing” role which gives access to the sign-up channel.

Sign-ups close 5 hours prior to the meeting start. (Teams who don’t sign-up will not be allowed to attend)

A reminder that team representatives represent their WHOLE team and not just themselves. We therefore ask representatives to discuss Council topics with their team mates before attending the Council.

As mentioned earlier, due to the official voting that will occur in this ESB Council, only teams who have played at least 2 matches in either our PS4 8v8 Squad Conquest Test Cup or South American Invitational will be allowed to attend.

BFV Squad Conquest – Test Cup & ESB Council

BFV Squad Conquest – Test Cup & ESB Council

Information

As most of you know, Squad Conquest was added to Battlefield V on the 17th of January as a limited time game-mode, and will be available to everyone until the 30th of January as a part of Chapter 2: Lightning Strikes.

As always, dozens of teams have dived right into playing 8v8 scrims, even without private servers available. We are therefore proud to announce our first online event on Battlefield V, an 8v8 Squad Conquest Test Cup on PlayStation 4.

The Test Cup will take place over 2 days, starting on Saturday January 26th and finishing on Sunday January 27th (visit the schedule tab for more detailed information). Each team will play a total of 4 games over the weekend in a swiss style bracket. This will allow every team participating to fully test the game mode and form their own opinion on what they believe works and what doesn’t.

With the Cup split over 2 days, we will be taking advantage of this to properly give teams a chance to experience the Squad Conquest in 2 different ways. On the Saturday, teams will be allowed to use anything that’s in the game, therefore no rules! This will allow both the veteran teams to prove any point they wish to make (about weapons/gadgets that may be overpowered) and new teams to both understand these points and experience the game as it is. On the Sunday, we will be using certain community suggested restrictions in order to make the game more competitive and less cheesy and provide a different experience to all teams participating. We hope that this leads to plenty of feedback and talking points for the upcoming ESB Council.

Teams that take part in this cup will be invited to participate in our first Battlefield V ESB Council to both provide feedback on the game-mode and discuss the creation of a first Squad Conquest ESB Ruleset to be used in the future once the Rental Server Program releases.

Our casters will also be live-casting as many games as they can on our Twitch Channel (https://www.twitch.tv/esbinternationaltv), and therefore look forward to bringing you some competitive Squad Conquest this upcoming weekend.

We hope to see you all either competing or watching!

The return of ESB France & more!

The return of ESB France & more!

Information

Before going international and being where we are today, ESB started in France. The French community has always been one of the most passionate and involved group of players in esports, and it’s part of what inspired us to make ESB.

We are therefore proud to announce that ESB France is officially back!

We would like to use this occasion to also introduce ESB Communities. This program will focus on building local and sustainable competitive environments and events for Battlefield V and the future.

Our goal is to make sure that all players and teams are catered for, from the bottom-up. Whether you are a professional team or playing your first scrim, we want to build an environment where you can easily grow within your own local community and respective level.

The ESB Communities program will be gradually launching around the world, with Europe and South America being our initial focus, and other countries/regions to follow in the near future.

ESB South America actually launched this past June as we hosted our South American Incursions Championship on Battlefield 1 PC, with great success and an even greater response from the community.

Each ESB Community will have a dedicated section in our discord server where players will be able to speak their local language and interact with others from the same area. Visit the #get-a-role channel in our discord server to find out how to gain access.

5v5 Domination Competitive Scrim – Battlefield V

5v5 Domination Competitive Scrim – Battlefield V

At the Battlefield V Launch Capture event in Stockholm, we were allowed to organize a 5v5 Domination scrim on Rotterdam with fellow EA GameChangers.

This allowed us to get an early first impression of what a smaller scale competitive match would play and feel like in Battlefield V. We hope this motivates teams and players and gives a different perspective on the game that hasn’t been shown thus far.

You can find the teams below (note that they where created randomly as players joined the server).
