ESB Battlefield 1 Council #4 – Creating the 5v5 Ruleset

General Information

The winter break is now over, and we’re ready to start launching Battlefield 1 events once again. Right before the break, and while a lot of key features/options where (and still are) missing, we managed to successfully run 3 5v5 Test Cups, 1 on Xbox One and 2 on PlayStation 4.

Each of the test cups had different variations in the rules, designed to test various aspects of the game. This allowed teams to see and feel how different rules and game modes played out and form their own opinion (especially the teams who played the 2 PS4  cups).

In this ESB Council we will be officially voting on any weapon/grenade/gadget bans and any map restrictions that need to be put in place for the 5v5 scene. Once the voting will be over, we will be constructing a first version of our official 5v5 ruleset which will be used in our events starting next week.

WHEN IS THE MEETING?

The meeting will be held on Saturday January 14th at 1pm EST / 7pm CET. Below is a countdown leading to the meeting start.

ESB Battlefield 1 Council #3 – Creating the 12v12 Ruleset

General Information

The Battlefield 1 Rental Server Program launched a few weeks ago, and while a lot of key features/options are missing, we managed to successfully run 4 12v12 Conquest Test Cups, 1 on Xbox One and 3 on PlayStation 4.

Each of the test cups had different variations in the rules, designed to test various aspects of the game. This allowed teams to see and feel how different rules played out and form their own opinion (especially the teams who played 2 or more cups).

In this ESB Council we will be officially voting on any weapon/grenade/gadget bans and any vehicle restrictions that need to be put in place. Once the voting will be over, we will be constructing a first version of our official 12v12 Conquest ruleset which will be used in our events starting in January after the Christmas break.

Please remember that a new patch arrived on the 13th of December and that certain items have been buffed/nerfed since the last test cups. We therefore ask you all to test these items out before the council.

ESB Battlefield 1 Council #2 – Discussing 5v5 Rules & Test Cups

General Information

The Battlefield 1 Rental Server Program launched a few weeks ago, and while a lot of key features/options are missing, we have now started our test cups for 5v5s as well in order to be ready to host bigger events as soon as 2017 arrives.

We will be dedicating this second Battlefield 1 Council to the 5v5 scene. After 22 Teams played in our first 5v5 Dom Test Cup on PS4, we would like to start discussing various topics with teams ahead of the next test cups in order to start testing out various rule sets in the coming weeks We would therefore like to invite all Xbox One and PlayStation 4 competitive teams to participate.

  • Which game modes should be played?

This past weekend we hosted our first Domination Test Cup on PS4 with the collaboration of Glory4Gamers. We will also start testing out War Pigeons and possibly 5v5 Rush while we work on the final 5v5 Ruleset for Battlefield 1.

  • Which weapons/gadgets should be restricted?

We will be discussing possible game breaking mechanics present in the game or unbalanced weapons/gadgets. Please provide feedback with appropriate information from Symthic to back up your claims where possible.

Please remember that a new patch is coming on the 13th of December and that certain items will have been buffed/nerfed right before this meeting.

You may find the patch notes by clicking HERE.

  • Should certain rooftops be banned?

Certain rooftops with ladder access can ruin the flow of the game, we will be taking a look at the maps and seeing which roofs ruin certain maps and which are fine to be used.

  • Should certain maps be banned?

For those who played Battlefield 4, you will remember that certain maps really didn’t work in a 5v5 setting, whether it was because of spawns (Hainan Resort Dom) or map design (Floodzone Dom). If you feel that certain maps should be looked at and addressed, please bring your ideas and feedback to the council.

This is just a brief preview of some of the questions we will pick your brains with in order to initiate constructive discussions ahead of the next test cups.
Come with your ideas and feedback about the game and let us know what game modes you prefer.

WHEN IS THE MEETING?

The meeting will be held on Wednesday December 14th at 3pm EST / 9pm CET. Below is a countdown leading to the meeting start.

Battlefield 1 – Introducing 5v5s & more Conquest

Battlefield 1 – Introducing 5v5s & more Conquest

Introducing 5v5s & more Conquest

After 2 successful weekends of 12v12 Conquest Test Cups on PS4, we are ready to start with our 5v5 Test Cups which we will be hosting with our partners over at Glory4Gamers. We will also keep hosting the 12v12 Conquest Test Cups on PS4 while relaunching them on Xbox One as well.

In order to set the server up for 5v5s, please place the desired game mode (Domination and/or War Pigeons) and make sure every player on your team has set himself as “OFFLINE” on PSN/XBL. This will stop players from being able to join on your through Battlelog/Friends list/ Party.
Note: This means that the server will remain with 24 slots however with the above solution randoms and friends shouldn’t be able to join your server randomly.

As you will be able to see from the schedule below, we will have a first 5v5 Test Cup and a Council a few days later in order to start creating multiple rule sets to test out prior to voting on them (as we are currently doing for Conquest). As mentioned in the schedule, the sign-ups for both the upcoming 5v5 and 12v12 Councils will open on Monday morning via an article on our website.

Here is a small schedule of what’s coming:

Please use timeanddate.com if you are still unclear with what timezone you are in and how to convert the time zones shown here.

Saturday December 10th at 2:00pm EST (New York) / 8:00pm CET (Paris).

BF1 Test Cups & ESB Council #1 Recap

Test Cups

Last week, the Rental Server Program (RSP) was finally released on both Xbox One and PlayStation 4. While servers got released in a Beta version, and missing key features required by the competitive community, having them available this early is already a step in the right direction.

Due to missing features, we can’t currently customize player counts as we wish, which means we can’t try 5v5s, or 8v8s or 16v16s for now, however we have found a way to play 12v12 Conquest while we wait for the next patch to add more features.

All you need to do is insert a round of either TDM/Domination/War Pigeons in the map rotation prior (or even after) to the Conquest map(s) and the server will automatically set the maximum player count to 24 players, therefore allowing for 12v12 Conquest to be played. While we also don’t have password protected servers, changing a few server settings will cause your server to become a “Custom Games” Server and that should stop players from being able to join your server through the “Quick Play” feature, which should reduce the amount of randoms joining to the bare minimum if not completely.

While we wait for the next patch to arrive with more server features in order to run bigger and better events, we would like to already start running test cups and working with the community on creating an first ruleset for the Conquest competitive scene.

During the next 3 Weekends, we will be running test cups, each with various different rules in order to test various aspects of the game, and then vote on them in our second BF1 ESB Council which will take place on either Saturday December 17th or Sunday the 18th (more details and sign-ups for this council will be released in the future).

The first test cups will occur this Sunday at 2pm EST / 8pm CET on both PS4 and X1. You can find the links to sign-up below:

XBOX ONE TEST CUP #1

PLAYSTATION 4 TEST CUP #1

Each Test Cup is an ODC (One Day Cup) with a Double Elimination bracket, with all rounds being played in Bo1. This means that once the cup starts, every team will play at least 2 maps vs 2 different teams, with each tournament round not lasting (hopefully) more than 30-40 minutes. If all goes as planned, for teams reaching the final stages of the cup, it shouldn’t last more than 4-5 hours total.

The full rules including flag/vehicle restrictions will be added on the tournament pages this Friday night (Nov. 25th), so please be patient while we finalize everything ahead of this weekend.

ESB Council #1 Recap

On the 6th of November, we hosted our first Battlefield 1 ESB Council in which we discussed various topics such as game modes, match formats, class/weapon balance, etc. With 20 teams attending and taking part in the discussion, here is a brief summary of what was discussed and a rough idea of how teams reacted to each topic of discussion, ahead of launching our first test cups this coming weekend.

Below are the topics discussed with how many votes each received globally.

What game modes & formats would you like to see played in the competitive BF1 scene?
  • 15 – 12v12/16v16 Conquest
  • 6 – 5v5 Domination
  • 5 – 5v5 War Pigeons
  • 2 – 8v8/10v10 Domination
  • 2- 12v12 Operations
  • 1- 5v5 Rush

This seems to be coherent with a poll we ran a few days before on Twitter:

What Weapon/Class restrictions would you like to see in BF1 Conquest?
  • 13 – Elite Classes
  • 12 – Gas Grenades
  • 10 – Martini-Henry
  • 7 – Shotguns
  • 5 – 1 Shot Sniper Riffles
  • 3 – Hellriegel 1915
  • 1 – Lawrence of Arabia
  • 1 – Tripwire Bombs
  • 1 – Rifle Grenades
  • 1 – Impact Grenades

What Vehicle restrictions would you like to see in BF1 Conquest?

  • 9 – Behemoths
  • 6 – 1 Light and 1 Heavy Tank only
  • 5 – Bombers
  • 4 – Limit Tanks to 1 type of each
  • 3 – Horses
  • 2 – Attack Planes

ESB Battlefield 1 Council #1 – Gearing up for Private Servers

General Information

Battlefield 1 launched a few weeks ago, and servers are now around the corner. While we don’t know the exact day, we know it’s coming in November, and therefore we have to get ready to kickstart the competitive scene on both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

During this first post-launch Battlefield 1 Council, we will discussing a variety of topics so that we can tackle server launch prepared and ready to compete all together. We’ll also be picking your brains with any ideas you may have regarding game modes and team sizes for each one, as well as collecting feedback regarding weapon/class/gadget/vehicle balance. We would therefore like to invite all Xbox One and PlayStation 4 competitive teams to participate.

  • Which game modes and formats should be played?

The game has launched with 5 objective based game modes; Conquest, Domination, Operations, Rush, and War Pigeons. We will be hosting test cups for each once servers launch, however we would like to know which ones you currently prefer based on your public game experience and which formats you would prefer trying out to start off.

6v6 War Pigeons? 8v8 Rush? 10v10 Conquest? 5v5 Rush? Bring your ideas!

  • How do you feel about the current class/weapon balance?

While the game is relatively new, with enough playing time you may notice possible game breaking mechanics present in the game or unbalanced weapons/gadgets and vehicles. Please provide feedback with appropriate information from Symthic to back up your claims where possible.

Items such as Gas Grenades, Elite Classes and Behemoths are already going to be addressed during the meeting.

This is just a brief preview of some of the questions we will pick your brains with in order to initiate constructive discussions ahead of servers being released.
Come with your ideas and feedback about the game and let us know what you think should be tested out first as soon as the rental server program launches.

Battlefield 1 – What’s next?

With Battlefield 1 having now released and the Rental Server program launch being around the corner, it’s time to get back to work and get ready for the competitive scene to finally kick off again.

While we are currently working on multiple things we can’t yet announce, here is some stuff that’s coming in the next month that you can look forward to participating in.

  • New Website

Our website has been in it’s Beta version for over a year now, and we’re now getting ready to release the final version with plenty of exciting new features. It should be live Late November/ Early December and we will be unlocking various features until the end of the year to make sure it launches as smoothly as possible for everyone.

  • ESB Council this week!

This Sunday November 6th at 12pm EST / 6pm CET we will be hosting our first post-launch ESB Council. You can find all the information you need, including the sign up form by clicking HERE.

For those new to ESB, the ESB Council is a monthly meeting we organize with team leaders across PS4 & X1 in order to discuss and vote on various topics related to the competitive scene such as rulesets, game modes, event types and more.

  • Test Cups are arriving!

As soon as the rental server program is live, on the same week, we will be launching our first test cups for various game modes on both PS4 and X1, so make sure to get your team ready as we are less than 1 month away!

  • The Official ESB Discord is now open to everyone!

Over the summer we had opened up our official Discord, however we had limited it’s use to team leaders who had participated in our pre-launch ESB Council.

It is now open for everyone, once you join, please introduce yourselves so we can assign you with the proper tags, if you don’t receive one you can message CodeName_Deus#0296 directly in private to obtain the correct tags and gain access to specific text and voice chats.

You can click HERE to join the server directly.

ESB Battlefield 1 Pre-Launch Council #1 – Discussing the Open Beta

General Information

During this first Battlefield 1 Council we will be discussing a variety of topics, designed to give us initial ideas regarding what needs to be looked at prior to launch, brainstorm on the future of the competitive scene and collect feedback relating to the game. We would therefore like to invite all Xbox One and PlayStation 4 competitive teams to participate.

  • What about Conquest Small?

As many of you have already heard, as of now, there will be no Conquest Small in Battlefield 1. What does that mean for the current Conquest scene? Should we cut out Conquest Small maps ourselves out of the Conquest Large ones? If yes, what are your initial ideas regarding Sinai Desert & St.Quentin Scar? Or do certain teams prefer moving to Rush?

sinai-desert-v2
Could this be what Conquest Small on Sinai Desert looks like?
  • Which game modes and formats should be played?

While it’s still early to say, how does the 16v16/12v12 Conquest scene from Battlefield 4 translate over to Battlefield 1? Is it time to go the 8v8 way on console as well, or can there be room for both like towards the end of Battlefield 4?

  • How do you feel about Hero classes?

Should they be allowed? Should they be banned? What are your initial thoughts on the subject?

This is just a brief preview of some of the questions we will pick your brains with in order to initiate constructive discussions.
Come with your ideas and feedback about the Beta and let us know what you think should be tested out first as soon as the game launches.

WHEN IS THE MEETING?

The meeting will be held on Sunday September 11th at 12pm EDT / 6pm CEST. Below is a countdown leading to the meeting start.

ESB League Season 7 – Information & Sign-up

ESB League Season 7 – Information & Sign-up

ESB League Season 7 – Information & Sign-up

season 7 article banner

Information

After a successful 6th Season (with 54 Teams!) on our League platform (league.esport-battlefield.com) , we where ready to take a break until BF1. However due to so many teams coming forward and asking us about a 7th Season, we decided to make it happen and launch a shortened version before everyone goes on vacation. This will allow us to still take a summer break and work on new features ahead of BF1’s launch.

Sign-ups are now open on both Xbox One and PlayStation 4 for our seventh season. Below you will find both the league schedule and team sign-up form. Each division will require at at least 6 teams by the deadline in order to be validated and go live on June 14th. (If for example one league has 12 teams signed up, we can create 2 divisions while following the same schedule)

For our 7th Season we will be featuring the following leagues on both X1 and PS4:

  • – Battlefield 4 – 16v16 Conquest Small – PS4
  • – Battlefield 4 – 12v12 Conquest Small – X1
  • – Battlefield 4 – 8v8 Conquest Small – PS4/X1

If enough teams would like other game modes and formats, we may be able to make those happen as well.

Note: The standard days for 16v16/12v12 will be scheduled for Saturday’s and for 8v8 for Sunday’s.

WHAT’S NEW?

Season 7 vMini

With summer vacations around the corner, we’ve decided to host a reduced version of our standard league in order to make sure that each team will be able to finish the league before the majority of players go on vacation. This should allow all teams to correctly finish the league without too many issues.

Here is a comparison:

Season 6:
  • – 8 Teams per Division
  • – 7 Week – Regular Season
  • – 3 Weeks – Playoffs
Season 7:
  • – 6 Teams per Division
  • – 5 Week – Regular Season
  • – 2 Weeks – Playoffs s

To recap, the total league duration is reduced by 3 Weeks.

See you soon 5s!

Due to summer approaching, and looking back at past seasons, we will be dropping 5v5s for our 7th and final Battlefield 4 Season of ESB League.

We unfortunately won’t be able to properly run features such as the player rankings and the ESB Allstars event for Season 7, and we prefer not running any 5s leagues instead of having to take away features that a lot of players enjoy.

Deadline for team sign-ups will be on Sunday June 12th at 1:00 am EDT / 7:00 am CEST. NO EXCEPTIONS.

League Schedules:

Note that ALL leagues (and respective divisions) feature 1 Match a Week only.

6 TEAM Division

  • Week 1: June 14th – 19th
  • Week 2: June 20th – 26th
  • Week 3: June 27th – July 3rd
  • Week 4: July 4th – 10th
  • Week 5: July 11th – 17th
  • Playoffs Week 1: July 22nd – 24th
  • Playoffs Week 2: July 29th – 31st

8v8 Conquest – Ruleset & Council

8v8 Conquest – Ruleset & Council

8v8 Conquest – Ruleset & Council #9

Information

With our 6th Season of ESB League, we have introduced an 8v8 division to the event, which has already started filling up and will be ready to launch on March 14th with all the other divisions.

However we realize that our conquest rules where created with 16v16s in mind and not 8v8s, and we are therefore proposing a new conquest ruleset dedicated to 8v8s and a new ESB Council this upcoming Saturday in order to discuss and vote on 8v8 rules in order to finalize a ruleset prior to Season 6 going live.

Our current proposed ruleset is a mix between our current 5v5 and 16v16 rules. Keep in mind that this ruleset ISN’T FINAL and will likely change after Sunday’s Council, therefore be constructive with the criticism ahead of the council.

All the information you need can be found below and in the other tabs in this article.

WHEN IS THE MEETING?

The meeting will be held on Saturday March 12th at 1pm EST / 7pm CET.

Click HERE to find out the exact meeting time in your location.

HOW DOES MY TEAM ATTEND?

This ESB Council is open to all active competitive Xbox One and PlayStation 4 Conquest teams, however teams participating in the 8v8 portion of Season 6 will receive priority. Each Team will be allowed 1 to send one representative to the council.

The ESB Councils happen over TeamSpeak 3 (Download Link Here). The TS3 adress will be sent to you in the confirmation email or your Season 6 Leaders Group Chat.

Every team who wishes to attend must fill in and submit the form below, unless they have already signed up for Season 6. A confirmation email will be sent to you within 24-48 hours of signing-up.

Please make sure that you name on TeamSpeak3 matches your battlelog name when you join our server or you will not be moved to the correct channel for the meeting.

For this meeting 24 slots will be available for teams (12 for X1 and 12 for PS4), and we will give the actively competing teams priority over inactive ones. Confirmation emails will be sent to each team applying once their participation is confirmed.
