Information

After a successful 5th Season on our new League platform (league.esport-battlefield.com) we are ready to tackle Season 6.

Sign-ups are now open on both Xbox One and PlayStation 4 for our sixth season. Below you will find both the league schedule and team sign-up form. Each league will require at at least 8 teams by the deadline in order to be validated and go live on March 14th. (If for example one league has 16 teams signed up, we can create 2 divisions while following the same schedule)

For our 6th Season we will be featuring the following leagues on both X1 and PS4:

  • – Battlefield 4 – 16v16 Conquest Small – PS4
  • – Battlefield 4 – 12v12 Conquest Small – X1
  • – Battlefield 4 – 8v8 Conquest Small – PS4/X1
  • – Battlefield 4 – 5v5 Domination – PS4/X1

If enough teams would like other game modes and formats, we can make those happen as well.

Note: The standard days for 16v16/12v12 will be scheduled for Saturday’s and for 8v8/5v5 for Sunday’s. This means that a team can’t compete in both the 8v8 and 5v5 categories simultaneously. This is valid for players as well, as this would create scheduling problems if both teams a player is in have their matches scheduled on the same day/time.

WHAT’S NEW?

8v8’s are here!

We are proud to introduce 8v8’s into the league and we hope this allow teams which have gone inactive due to a lack of players, to start playing again.

Our 8v8 leagues will feature a modified Conquest Ruleset which will reflect the reduced player count on the maps, and will be similar to our 5v5 Ruleset. The official 8v8 Ruleset will be released on Monday March 7th which will be followed by an ESB Council the same weekend to gather community feedback before making them final for launch.

Conquest Rules Updated!

Our Conquest Rules have been updated to reduce the chance of teams obtaining forfeit wins by abusing the system.

“If a team violates a restriction, only the map the item was used on will be forfeited and not the entire match.”

Some of the changes that will be live when the league launches are:

  • – 25 Ticket Penalty per BANNED Weapon Kill (This means that getting a kill with a – banned weapon no longer costs your team the map)
  • – Teams will be required to report and provide proof of any rule infraction(s) at the end of the map in which the infraction occurred. Failure to do so can void any penalty for the opposing team.
  • – The use of other restricted items will still cause your team to forfeit the map.

Deadline for team sign-ups will be on Monday March 14th at 1:00 am EST / 7:00 am CET.

League Schedules:

Note that ALL leagues feature 1 Match a Week only.

ESB League Season 5 – Information & Sign-up

season 5 article banner

Information

After a somewhat bumpy Season 4 due to the summer vacations, we are now ready to start Season 5 with some new features!

Sign-ups are now open on both Xbox One and PlayStation 4 for our fifth season. Below you will find both the league schedule and team sign-up form. Each league will require at at least 8 teams by the deadline in order to be validated and go live on October 19th. (If for example one league has 16 teams signed up, we can create 2 divisions while following the same schedule)

For our 5th Season we will be featuring the following leagues on both X1 and PS4:

  • Battlefield 4 – 16v16 Conquest Small (12v12 for X1)
  • Battlefield 4 – 5v5 Domination / Squad Obliteration

If enough teams would like other game modes and formats, we can make those happen as well.

What’s new?

5v5’s are back!

We are excited to bring back the 5v5 portion of our event! We are currently proposing a Domination / Squad Obliteration / Domination, Best of 3 format however we’d love to mix things up even more in the future by adding the long forgotten Defuse in there as well. Make sure you keep the feedback coming in through our forums! Big things ahead if this 5v5 season works out as planned.

Player Cards

Every Week, the best performing 5v5 players will get their player cards created and featured on our social media accounts. In addition, players who obtain player cards also obtain two extra votes for the ESB Allstars selection. Two votes may not seem like a lot, however they could make the difference between being selected or not.

New League Page Design

For this season, we have reworked the full league page design, which should make everything more appealing, easier to navigate, and more fun to follow for the fans. This is a first step leading into having team leaders fully controlling their teams directly through our website in the future (hopefully by next season). Unfortunately we don’t have a preview of this yet as it is still being worked on, and will launch on the 19th of October.

ESB Allstars are back!

Our ESB Allstars event is back with a new voting system and team draft mode! The event will take place during Week 6 of the upcoming league, on both X1 and PS4, exclusively for players participating in Season 5. Currently only a 5v5 event is planned, however we are working on a way to implement a Conquest one as well. Stay tuned for more information.

Deadline for team sign-ups will be on Sunday October 18th at 1:00 am EST / 7:00 am CET.

League Schedules:

Note that both leagues feature 1 Match a Week only.

Hardline – Proposing a New Global Ruleset

Hardline – Proposing a New Global Ruleset

Hardline – Proposing a New Global Ruleset

We would like to propose a reworking of the Hardline rules in order to make them more appealing to both the new and confirmed competitive players alike. Our PROMOD rules have now become the standard for 5v5 matches in Hardline, however this has come at a cost; the players got tired of using the same weapon over and over, and the new potential competitive players don’t feel attracted to such rules as they can’t relate them to public matches and use their favorite weapons.

At Gamescom while meeting with Hardline’s very own Lead MP Designer Thaddeus Sasser about various aspects of the game and exchanging feedback received from some of the more active teams, the topic of TTK came up. TTK stands for Time To Kill, this is essentially the time it takes for you to kill the player you are shooting at, based on your weapon’s damage, rate of fire, distance etc . One of the main reason that Promod rules where created and embraced, was because everyone felt the TTK in Hardline was too low, which lead to a constant feeling of getting “1 shot” when in reality it was just the game it self going that fast. A simple solution that was found throughout our meeting, which everyone had surprisingly ignored up to this point, was to reduce the Bullet Damage Modifier option in the server settings from 100% to 72%.

Why 72%?

Changing the Bullet Damage Modifier from 100% to 72% now means that both the M416 and M16A3 which before caused 24 Damage each, now cause 17.28, which is perfectly in line with the RO993 with 100% Damage Modifier (see table below). This means that all the other weapons don’t “one shot” as they did before, and that while Sniper Rifles will keep being 1 shot kills to the head, however they won’t keep doing as much damage when hitting you in other body parts.

weapon modifier chart v2
Weapon Damage Comparison: 100% vs 72% Bullet Damage Modifier
weapon modifier chart 2v1
SMG Damage Comparison: 100% vs 72% Bullet Damage Modifier

Now, below we have made a very rough draft of what the new set of rules could look like with the damage reduction setting active, and we have added the new weapons that where released for everyone when robbery released, while keeping DLC exclusive weapons and items banned. We would like to collect your feedback and possibly hold polls and a Council in the upcoming weeks so we can shape a new set of Hardline rules, prior to some important events we are planning to launch.

We ask you to be constructive with this feedback and let us know what you would change from the draft rule set below and why.

(Remember this is just a very rough draft we put together, a lot of things could change before the final version goes live) (Don’t hesitate to point out any mistakes we made with items in the wrong subsections)

Bellow you will find the new proposed ruleset:

ESB Hardline Council #3 – Conquest Rules 10v10+

ESB Hardline Council #3 – Conquest Rules 10v10+

Information

ESB Hardline Council #3 – Conquest Rules 10v10+

During this third ESB Council we would like to look at the Conquest Small/Large 10v10-15v15 competitive scene. Since servers have released, teams have been competing in a range of different team sizes, from 10v10 & 12v12 on Conquest Small, to 15v15 on Conquest Large. To begin, we’d like to know what the majority of the teams prefer, and have a constructive discussion with the active teams in order to see what format will work better for the Conquest scene on Hardline.

We’d also like to discuss and vote on a first draft of rules. So make sure you bring a list of items you believe should be banned, and why. This will allow us to have a constructive discussion on what teams believe should and shouldn’t be in the rules.

As a third and last topic for this Council, we’d like to discuss with teams what tournament formats they would like to see on Hardline for the Conquest scene. Some teams have asked us to bring back our ESB League, let us know your ideas so we can plan our events accordingly.

WHEN IS THE MEETING?

The meeting will be held on Saturday May 30th at 1pm EDT / 7pm CEST.

The Return of ESB GameCenter Top 10

The Return of ESB GameCenter Top 10

The Return of ESB GameCenter Top 10

At the start of Battlefield 4 we launched ESB GameCenter, which covered one of our events, the Glory Series with Weekly Highlights, Top Plays and Team Interviews.

We are now relaunching the Top Plays segment together with our newly released Xbox One and PlayStation 4 Rescue Ladders. Starting this Week we will start collecting footage from all current matches played on both our Rescue Ladders and we will compile them into a Weekly Top 10 or Top 5 depending on the amount of footage teams send over.

Our first show will air on May 3rd 2015, and will use footage sent by teams from April 20th-26th. Each week from Monday-Sunday we will collect footage for our new Episodes, so make sure you send in your footage and that it follows the requirements indicated at the end of the article.

The Show will last for 5 Weeks, at the end of which we will put together our Ultimate Top 5 for the season, with the winner receiving a small prize. During our Battlefield 4 edition we gave away a pair of KontrolFreeks, stay tuned for what we will be giving away this time around.

ESB Hardline Council #2 – Rules Part 2 & Rooftops

ESB Hardline Council #2 – Rules Part 2 & Rooftops

Information

ESB Hardline Council #2 – Rules Part 2 & Rooftops

During this second ESB Council we would like to look at rules once more and start finalizing Rescue rules already. Our first Test Ruleset received mixed reactions from teams and players across the competitive scene, we would like teams to bring their ideas of what they believe should be added or removed from the current ruleset in order to keep improving it. We’d also like to discuss which rooftops should and which shouldn’t be banned in Rescue. We therefore invite teams that wish to attend to play a few scrims before the meeting if they haven’t already.

  • Improving the first Ruleset

The first Test Ruleset has now been out for a week and has received mixed reviews. A lot of teams have already tested it out, and have given us feedback, both positive and negative. One of the big topics regarding the current rules are Defibrillators. The Defibrillator ban has been the biggest topic of discussion, while it being in place specifically for Rescue, a single re-spawn game mode, a lot of teams have expressed a desire to keep defibrillators in as this is a Battlefield game after all.

There is still a good part of the community who approves of this ban in Rescue. A common example being used to explain this side of the argument is the following:

If i’m a Defender, who’s left on his own versus 3 enemy players in a 1v3 situation and I manage to kill 2 of them, now instead of going into a 1v1 situation both the players I just dropped get revived and I’m back in a 1v3 situation, and now I’m dead.

There are pros and cons to both allowing and removing defibrillators, come let us know what your thoughts on the subject are.

Another aspect of the Ruleset which some dislike is the Mechanic class being banned. Some agree with this ban due the current state of PDW’s, others have suggested just banning a few of the guns, while others said they should be limited to 1 per team. There are a few other topics people have brought up, and which will all be discussed during the upcoming Council. Make sure to bring all your ideas with you.

  • Which rooftops should be banned?

This is something a lot of teams have been waiting for. Certain roofs on Rescue ruin the map (on Riptide for Example), while others are just a normal part of it and banning them could possibly hurt the way the map plays. The feedback has been coming to us and we’ve been listening, we’d however like to discuss and vote on which should be banned during the meeting.

WHEN IS THE MEETING?

The meeting will be held on Sunday April 12th at 2pm EDT / 8pm CEST.

Click HERE to find out the exact meeting time in your location.

ESB Hardline Council #1 – Discussing Game Modes and Rules

During this first Hardline Council we will be discussing a variety of topics, designed to give us initial ideas regarding what needs to be looked at, and how a Hardline ESB Ruleset would start to look like. We would like to invited all Xbox One and PlayStation 4 competitive teams to participate.

  • What Weapons/Gadgets should be restricted?

We’ve already had many suggestions, battlepack weapons being banned (Deluxe Edition Items), DLC (Like in BF4), high damage output weapons such as the AKM or certain enforcer weapons, high ROF weapons such as the K10, the idea of having an M16/416 promod scene only.

We’ve been listening but want to know more, what weapons and gadgets would you like to see banned?

  • Which game modes and formats should be played?

The eSport labeled game modes out of the box are Rescue and Crosshair, some like only one, some like both, some neither. There are still a lot of ideas about other modes that could fit the 5v5 scene such as Heist, Conquest Small and some even say Blood Money.

Should we go for a Rescue/Conquest Small/Rescue BO3 rotation similar to what we did in Battlefield 4 with Domination/Defuse and Domination/Obliteration. Should we go single game modes? or 3 Game modes per match: Rescue/Conquest Small/Heist?

How does the 15v15 Conquest scene from Battlefield 4 translate over to Hardline? Is it time to go the 8v8/10v10 way on console as well seeing how the current maps are set up?

Come with your ideas and let us know what you think should be tested out first as soon as servers drop for consoles.

  • Should certain areas of maps be off limits?

The main items that come up in these discussions are rooftops. Certain rooftops have stairs which lead up to them, some have ladders only, some have both, and some neither. Which ones should be banned and which ones should be allowed? Does the grappling hook remove some of the existing roof problems? Are there any other areas of specific maps that you believe should be restricted? Come let us know.

WHEN IS THE MEETING?

The meeting will be held on Saturday March 28th at 4pm EDT / 9pm CET.
