ESB BFV Council #8 – Finalizing the 4v4 Rush Ruleset

Over the past month, over 60 teams across PlayStation and Xbox have been actively playing 4v4 Rush. With so many teams playing, we have noticed key problems in the ruleset that we would like to discuss and address before Season 4 starts.

All teams that qualify for a 4v4 Division in Season 4 will be invited to the upcoming Council. Each team will be allowed to send one representative to voice their opinion and vote on key changes to the ruleset before the season starts.

When is the Council?

The meeting will occur on Sunday, March 21st, 2021, at 4:00 pm EDT / 9:00 pm CET and will last approximately 2 hours. Below is a countdown leading to the meeting start.

How do you sign-up?

Our staff will be contacting team leaders individually tomorrow (Monday, March 15th, 2021) through Discord. Designated team leaders will then be given access to the ESB Council section of our Discord and can sign-up by reacting to a post there.

The current class restrictions are 2/1/1/1, and while they are mostly fine, they can cause some balancing issues in certain situations. We would like to see 1/1/1/1 moving forward to maintain a key class balance that the ruleset provides, especially with the proposed Recon changes detailed below.

Aside from the balancing benefits, it would also allow us to create some very interesting class-specific statistics/leaderboards for the upcoming season.

We feel that the Recon class can be too aggressive with the P08 and Flare Gun combination. Being able to flare and push without any penalty with a high magazine gun doesn’t make sense. The fact that flares can also be shot in places that the enemy team can’t reach (Operation Underground as an example) doesn’t help either.

In an ideal situation, the Flare Gun would be more balanced if the Recon class had Bolt-Actions only. We would, however, like to keep both the P08 as a primary weapon option for the Recon class while making spotting more difficult.

Our idea is that by banning the Flare Gun and allowing only the Spotting Scope as a primary gadget, we would balance out the class and make the current gameplay more enjoyable for everyone.

Players actively using the Spotting Scope would be at a temporary disadvantage while being shot at, creating a risk/reward situation that makes sense.

While we already have most roofs and areas banned in the current ruleset, there are certain areas (notably on Devastation) that need to be addressed in the rules. If you know of any spots that you feel should be banned on any of the current maps, please take screenshots and send them our way.
